This fall, the District Government will kick off our 62nd Annual DC One Fund campaign. This program puts into action our belief that we should do we can to support pathways to the middle class. We began this campaign to provide employees with an easy way of donating to their charities of choice via payroll deduction. The DC One Fund has grown consistently over the years. Last year, your generosity made commitments of over $1 Million in pledges. If you have not, please consider becoming a Fair Share Giver, Fair Share Givers pledge between 1% and 3% of their annual salary.
I am extremely grateful as Mayor to see just how hard our government employees work each and every day making sure that the District of Columbia is a great place for all to live, work and play. Our non-profits are doing the hard, day to day work serving the many needs of their clients. They rely on workplace giving drives such as the DC One Fund to sustain their operations. So, we’re proud to again partner with the United Black Fund and the United Way of the National Capital Area in this 62nd campaign. Together we can reach a fresh goal of $1 Million for another year.
When you set aside a portion of your paycheck towards the DC One Fund, it means one less missed meal, one more night’s sleep off the street and possibly tuition coverage for summer camp. Think of those organizations you hold close to your heart and consider helping them help so many more with the power of your designation(s).
If you just can’t wait until our big kick-off on October 7, 2016, feel free to visit the DC One Fund pledging website at www.onefund.dc.gov. Thank you for all your support in giving to the city. Fire Chief Dean and I hope to see you at the Kickoff and/or agency fairs throughout the District.
